Born and raised in Rome, I have been drawing since I can remember. I obtained a BA in Illustration from the Institute of European Design, in 1994. In the same year my work was selected at the Children’s Book Fair in Bologna for my non-fiction project Middle Ages. I moved to London in 1996 and after working as graphic and web designer I have decided to get back to my natural passion.
My decision to enroll on the MA in Children’s Book Illustration was one of the hardest I have made, but I have been rewarded by seeing how much stronger my work has become. The course has given me the confidence to develop my characters and stories in depth, using new methods and drawing techniques. I am currently using gouache and colouring pencil, but I also enjoy printmaking and collage. I believe that as creatives we should never stop exploring and experimenting with ways to build new visuals and make our stories more exciting.
