Bryony Thomson grew up in rural Suffolk and now lives in a small village in Surrey.
She completed a BA in Fine Art at Wimbledon School of Art and then spent four years working as a Political Risk insurance underwriter in London.
The realities of a high pressure commercial career reinvigorated her love of drawing and storytelling and led her to the MA Children’s Book Illustration course at Cambridge School of Art. Graduating with distinction in 2016 she was also highly commended in the Macmillan Prize and shortlisted for the Bridgeman Studio Award.
Bryony loves to experiment with mark making and different printing techniques, layering these textures with watercolour, ink and pencil. When she isn’t covered in paint or ink she can usually be found in a swimming pool somewhere or running along the footpaths of the North Downs.
