As a child, I liked drawing, painting, sewing, watching TV, eating crisps and daydreaming. Nothing much has changed except now I’m (supposedly) an adult.

After completing a degree in Fine Art and subsequent temp jobs, I went to work as an English language teacher in Japan (mum’s home country). Whilst there, my love of drawing and painting was rekindled by the many beautiful picturebooks and illustrations I saw.

I eventually made my way back to the UK. Then, after several years of evening courses (mostly revolving around art and illustration), I plucked up the courage to do a Masters in Children’s Book Illustration at CSA.  I wasn’t disappointed.

I use a lot of pencil (regular and coloured), watercolours, inks. I’m dabbling more with digital elements, especially for colouring, though retaining the hand-drawn element of my work.  I’m influenced a lot by folk and fairy tales and use these as a jumping off point for inspiration.

I won the Stratford-upon-Avon Literary Festival/Salariya 2017 Picture Book Prize for my picture book based on Japanese legends of the Moon Rabbit.

I was selected for the 2016 Cheltenham Illustration Awards Annual and exhibition at The Wilson in Cheltenham.
