Born Saitama, Japan 1984. Living and working in the UK since 2001. Obtained BA Fine Art from Nottingham Trent University in 2007 and Distinction from MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art in 2017.
I see myself as a printmaker and illustrator with a passion in design and typography. I’m inspired by designers such as Lucienne Day, Saul Bass, Eric Ravilious, Katsumi Komagata and artists such as Tove Jansson, Grayson Perry and Chris Ware.
I mainly work with screen printing, mono printing as well as collage and have a lot of fun playing in my sketchbooks. In my Masters project, a series of interchangeable maps called ‘Coco’s World’, humans, animals and spirits coexist peacefully across a fantastical landscape of giant books and ice cream trees.
