Eva Eland

I am a Dutch, author, illustrator and artist based in the UK. Before studying Children’s Book Illustration, I studied Writing and Audiovisual Design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. I remember making stories with drawings in little booklets when I was a child and burying myself under as many books as I could get my hands on. It seems like not much has changed since.

Most of my work originates in drawing, which is just another way of looking very closely to the world around me. Fascinated by human behaviour and psychology, I don’t shy away from the more difficult subjects like sadness, loneliness and the creative process. I like to address those in my work, but often in an encouraging or humorous way.

My debut picture-book Sadness, a user manual is being published by Andersen Press in January 2019.

I’m looking forward to my next creative adventures.
