Ivonne Vargas

I was born in Bogotá, an exciting city in the middle of Colombia where I spent my childhood drawing, stitching, and making things with my hands until I became a Designer. After moving to London in 2007 I decided to seek a career in Illustration to extend my art preferences and completed a degree in Illustration and Visual Communication at the University of Westminster where I discovered my passion for creating stories and characters for children.I am currently finishing my MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Anglia Ruskin, Cambridge School of Arts and I am ready for new challenges, stories, drawings and pages to fill.

My illustrations have been shortlisted for Nami Island International Picture Book Illustration Concours 2017 and exhibited for Art on the Underground 2015 in association with the University of Westminster.

In my work I strive to see the world through the eyes of a child conveying my ideas by drawing on simple visual language portraying my south American heritage.
