I love colour and texture and am attracted to creating layered atmospheric images. I’m a massive fan of observational drawing and have been largely working to reconcile these two ways of image-making in my work on the MA.
I experiment with a wide range of materials and techniques, most recently focusing on pencil, soft pastel, screen printing and linocut, and often work digitally with textures and elements I’ve created.
My biggest source of inspiration is my sketchbook and my subjects are almost always rooted in something I have seen and drawn from life.
I relish capturing the sense of a place and have found myself instinctively drawn to journey narratives, differences in scale, and the relationships small children have with each other and the world around them.
