I am fascinated by every day interactions between people and how we show empathy towards one another. I love to use drawing, print and digital collage to combine elements of the everyday with imagination and give an insight into the minds of my characters. I also enjoy creating worlds that can be explored through images, particularly natural environments.
I am most motivated by narratives that inspire curiosity in the reader with layers of melancholy and uplift. I like to combine words and images in unexpected ways and enjoy playing with counterpoint. My comics are usually wordless and focused on the small moments of life, with a little bit of silliness too.
In 2018 I was shortlisted for the Batsford Prize in the Children’s Illustration category for my book “My Lighthouse”.
