Julian Bohnhorst

For my BA I studied industrial design at the university of applied science in Munich. Studying industrial design helped me understand the design process in general. The focus lay on designing the whole world of products. Drawing and visualizing was a major part of those studies. The combination of two- and three-dimensional development was extremely exciting and inspiring. Throughout my BA I was fascinated with putting products into an emotional user case, therefore I wanted to specialize on Illustration for my MA.
The MA children’s book illustration is really the best thing that happened to me. It is my true passion and fulfils completely. Creating inspiring and fascinating worlds gives me a very deep sense of purpose and happiness. The magic of a strong atmosphere in tone and colour became one of the most interesting topics to me. Inspiration from movies and graphic novels have a big influence for the desire to master such an atmosphere.
