I’m inspired by colour and textures and I’m happiest when I’m playing with paint and paper in my studio in Norfolk. Having trained as a Theatre Designer, my love of stories was always present. I really love the tactile nature of books and the way a picture book can capture a child’s imagination in their own hands from a young age.
This MA has been really good for me, when I started I wasn’t really an illustrator, I drew constantly and had story ideas but didn’t know how to fuse them together and needed to try different approaches. The course been challenging and inspiring, with incredible teachers and talented fellow students who opened my eyes to the diverse world of picture books.
I now feel I can confidently call myself a children’s book illustrator and I hope to make books which will be read again and again.
I was fortunate enough to be one of the winners of the SCBWI Undiscovered Voices competition 2018.
