Rosie Haine

My work is a sometimes silly and sometimes poetic look at what it means to be human, and the joy and magic of being alive.

I studied English Literature, did a Masters in Social Sciences, and worked in the media for 10 years before I realised that what I really wanted to do was to draw pictures.

I use mixed media like ink, pencil and wax, as well as lithography, which I’ve been exploring as a way to simplify my work and as a homage to the mid 20th century picture books that I admire so much.

Picturebooks have turned out to be the perfect art form and way to communicate the things I want to say. Doing this MA has been like re-finding a part of myself, connecting with the childhood me who was always drawing and living in her imagination.
