I am a printmaker and illustrator from Norwich, UK.
During my first degree in Graphics / Illustration at Norwich University of the Arts I won third place in the MacMillan Prize for children’s picture book illustration.
Following a career in magazine publishing in London, working at The Guardian and Observer newspapers and BBC Magazines, I decided to return to my first love of printmaking and illustration.
The MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art has been great for developing my confidence and pushing me to explore and work freely.
My experiments with traditional printmaking techniques of monoprint, linocut, drypoint, letterpress and screenprint are developed using digital software tools to create my illustrations.
I enjoy the whole process of writing and progressing a story in conjunction with image creation. For my latest story I produced pop-up illustrations, which was challenging but great fun.
I also like to paint and recently had two acrylic paintings selected for the Royal Watercolour Society’s Contemporary Watercolour Competition exhibition at Bankside Gallery, London.
My home now is a village near the Suffolk coast where I spend many happy days printmaking in my studio and getting very inky fingernails.
